Eric Baber is Director of Studies of NetLearn Languages (http://www.nll.co.uk ), a school which teaches languages entirely online. We use NetMeeting, a tool which allows all lesson participants to talk to each other using audio, chat with each other in a text-chat window if necessary, a whiteboard for working on language exercises together and more. Our "philosophy" is that language needs to be used with other humans in order to become proficient in it, and we therefore focus almost exclusively on synchronous teaching methods.

NLL also runs a teacher development courses for qualified and experienced native-speaker teachers who would like to learn how to teach EFL/ESL online ( http://www.colte.com ). This course consists of asynchronous and synchronous elements and allows teachers to familiarise themselves with a variety of Internet tools for language teaching.

Our newest addition is the Distance In-Service Training (DIST) course (http://www.nll.co.uk/dist ). This course is primarily web-based, and is aimed at non-native speaker teachers of English. It allows them to develop their English language skills and updates them on current ELT methodologies.

We also design websites(http://www.websolutions.uk.com ) and run a NetMeeting support site at http://www.netmeeting.co.uk .
