Welcome to IATEFL's Computer SIG Virtual Pre-Conference Event

This site is intended as an information centre about the Virtual Pre-Conference Event (VPCE), and as such will continuously develop throughout the next few weeks.

The aim of this PCE is to provide the participants with some insights into the way that language learning can be managed on-line. It will last for six weeks and will start on 14 th February. The six weeks will be divided into three two week slots, each slot covering a different topic and also looking at different technologies. The technologies will start from a basic level and build up over the six-week period.

The event will be run by a number of tutors who all have experience of working in this way and there will be demonstrations of particular technologies by experts in their area. The number of tutors involved will vary according to the number of participants, but the groups will be kept small in order that the tutors can facilitate effectively.

Throughout the six week period the participants will be joined to an electronic discussion list where topics and issues will be discussed by the whole group. They will be invited to do tasks and will gain an insight into this rapidly developing aspect of the the English Language Teaching world. Blocks 2 and 3 will involve synchronous meetings, days and times will be agreed by the groups.
